ethernet not working on new ChaletOS (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Noob here. I am trying to install ChaletOS on an HP DC5700 desktop. I wish to have as close an experience to Win7 as possible as that is what we are used to. My ultimate goal is to get a linux install that our family can use. I tried a straight Ubuntu install, but it was difficult for me to administer, much less our family to use!
After installing, the wired connection isn’t working. It did work in the Ubuntu install, but that's been blown away now. I can't see lights (I'm not sure if there are any) on the back of the computer, but they are flashing on the router port.
I don’t know where to start, but I did run lshw because I saw someone in another post run it. After sifting through everything, I found that the Ethernet interface is NetXtreme BCM5755. Outside of that, I have no idea what to do from here. And I have no other linux machine (only a win7), so any solution that involves downloading something is going to have to happen from that machine. I appreciate any help you can give.
