No Wi-Fi adapter found after installing Ubuntu on Toshiba Satellite L55Dt
I got some ideas by checking this other question on the forum here:
Ubuntu | No WiFi Adapter found
So I go to the shell command prompt, type in lspci -knn | grep Net -A3
and I get:
05:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM43 802.11 1b/g/n [14e4:4365] (rev 01)
Subsystem: AzureWave BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [1a3b:2155] 06:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS5 229 PCI Express Card Reader [10ec:5229] (rev 01)
Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems RT5229 PCI Express Card Reader [1179:f920]
This tells me I have Realtek PCI-E Wireless modem installed on the laptop, I think?
Then I tried this: sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
I got a message stating UEFI Secure Boot requires additiona configuration to work with 3rd party drivers, that after the system reboots, I will create a password for the MOK that has been generated, etc.
Well, the system did not reboot, I made it reboot after about 5 minutes. I never got prompted for anything, so I tried running sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
again and it gives me an error now:
dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem
When I do that, it says I need an option action. Not sure which one would work.
And I still need to know if this will get my Wi-Fi adapter to work or not. Or should I abandon this and try something else?
Thanks!
