Ubuntu bios upgrade problem in Dell laptop
I am trying to upgrade the bios version from A06 to A09 on Inspiron 15R 5537. I have created a bootable usb stick of freedos, tried to run the bios driver but it does not seem to work.
I approached the upgrade in following way:
- Made a bootable FreeDOS USB stick with unetbootin.
- Copied the Dell BIOS executable file to the USB stick
- Inserted the USB stick in a USB 2 port and booted the laptop with F12 pressed
- In the BIOS I selected the USB stick and booted FreeDOS
- Executed the BIOS upgrade file.
Then I got the following output and no BIOS upgrade:
C:>A09.exe
Reading file...
Flash package mode.
Option: -ecb -bios
DOS memory buffer 2 allocate failed.
C:>
Any pointers?
