How do I make .rtf files be displayed by default instead of being prompted to run or display?

0

It says "No such file or directory" below. How can I fix the problem?
I want all .rtf files displayed automatically by default. I will never run them. I want to open them directly by double-clicking on them without having to answer the question "Do you want to run XXXXX.rtf or display its contents?"

matthew@matthew-pc:~$ chmod -x /media/matthew/Device/*.rtf
chmod: cannot access '/media/matthew/Device/*.rtf': No such file or directory
matthew@matthew-pc:~$ cd /media/matthew/Device/

To find all the files with this extention you can try command like:

find /media/matthew/Device -type f -name "*.rtf"

because by default ls will not display files in subfolders

  • Yes, your command can list all .rtf files. But how can I make them be displayed by default? What is the command?

  • @MatthewWai what do you mean "by default"? Do you want to edit them in kind of graphic environment? If so please edit your questions and add those details
