compiling c program in terminal- “gcc: fatal error: no input files”
I'm new to Linux and am trying to compile a C program. Let's say my program is called "abc.c". I know that I am navigated to the right directory and that this file exists within the directory (the ls command confirms this). Yet when I type "gcc abc.c -o abc", the following error appears:
gcc: error: abc.c: No such file or directory
gcc: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated
I know for a fact that this file does exist in the right location. This happens with multiple files within the directory, but compiling/running works for some other files.
Any help with what could be wrong / how to fix it would be much appreciated.
linux terminal virtualbox c
